Amazon Sr. Program Manager, AMXL JP in Tokyo, Japan

Description

AMXL JP is looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager with a strong record of achieving results, to own and execute high visibility strategic initiatives. This individual will drive and execute CX & Tech related initiatives, innovations, programs and features both unique to JP as well as new global programs for AMXL in Japan to create better customer experience and drive cost benefits for the E2E network. This role will manage large scale, complex initiatives, deal with ambiguity, balance speed with quality, and advocate on behalf of the customer to provide high-performance tech based solutions to the field. You will focus on development and execution of new programs as well as continuous improvement of programs for our end-to-end network. This role lets you bring the latest technology to Japan and be a part of discourse on future roadmap to address local needs while partnering with counterparts in various regions like U.S, EU and India.

This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with multiple functional teams and stakeholder groups including delivery station operations, field execution, Tech, Transportation Network Planning, Middle Mile teams, Supply Chain, Retail Delivery Experience, Customer Service and Topology teams. The ability to influence others without authority and speed of execution will be critical to the success in this role. The ideal candidate should possess a successful track record of managing complex programs and projects, has strong analytical and business acumen, and experience in managing multiple stakeholder teams at the same time. Impactful communication skills, Ownership, Bias for Action, Insist on Highest Standards, Customer Obsession and Think big will be essential. The candidate is expected to be a self-starter who will take ownership of program and business problems to create successful partnership across stakeholder groups by driving strategy and execution to achieve speed goals at right cost and unparalleled customer experience.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create execution strategy, set priorities and communicate across business partners and stakeholders

  • Translate program initiatives into a logical sequence and mapping our roadmap against business impact

  • Coordinate with teams across various regions and geos to understand, learn, implement and execute as per Japan nuances

  • Bring creative ideas, pilot and implement program / tech interventions

  • Manage and conduct quick pilot projects to gather learnings, identify and implement the best scalable solution for an E2E network

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholder teams at all level of the organization including operations, product engineering, and quality teams to design and implement technical and process solutions

  • Identify process gaps and drive projects for sustained improvement, influencing and working with technology, operations, business teams & leaders

  • Develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of operations and Dive Deep into data to analyze performance and determine program strategy

  • Write crisp, clearly articulated and logically supported recommendations to senior management with minimal supervision

A day in the life

While you will always strive towards one goal - delighting customers - no two days will be the same. You lead meetings with multiple stakeholders to drive alignment for your programs. You coordinate and write multiple documents with leadership visibility, from strategic to tests to reviews, requiring multiple inputs from several stakeholders. You challenge the status quo and drive data based decisions making with cross-functional teams. You plan and organize to the tee to ensure seamless execution. You will continuously find new problems to solve and be required to partner with teams across Japan and the globe to deliver for our customers. You take business trips within and outside Japan on a need basis to build your skills, network and to gain insights from other regions and bring and export best practices to and from Japan.

AMXL JP team is a single threaded organization that owns Amazon's end-to-end Heavy & Bulky (H&B) logistics network with our willing and equally customer obsessed partners, offering shipping, service & support for consumers and companies in a safe, reliable, seamless, standardized, and sustainable way that surprises and delights our customers. Our delivery partners are experienced in H&B deliveries, providing special handling services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly and Recycling/Haul-Away.

Our team is made up of a diverse group of individuals across operations, supply chain, tech, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence and program management that work closely and collaboratively across Amazon to constantly improve and scale our operations, always insisting on the highest standards and obsessing over delivering bigger smiles for our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Business level of English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or MBA

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • Significant experience influencing internal and external stakeholders.

  • Sound business judgment and strong critical thinking skills as well as a proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners

  • Business level of Japanese
