As a Database Go-to-Market Specialist in Japan, you will have an exciting opportunity to shape and assist in delivering a strategy to build mindshare and broad adoption of Amazon's cloud computing platform within the enterprise, SMB, and start-up communities in Japan, with a specific focus on Database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon Database Migration Service, DocumentDB, Neptune, Timestream, Keyspaces, and QLDB). You will work with customers to drive managed database adoption while creating and orchestrating "at scale" partner execution, programs, initiatives, research, and enablement for our sales and cross-functional customer teams in Japan. A proven track record of business development capability and executing sales programs and initiatives at scale with tangible results is essential.

Your responsibilities will include partnering with the account and channel teams in Japan to define key market segments to target, driving revenue and market share for the Japanese Database market. You will also be responsible for cultivating necessary business and technical relationships with Japanese customers and partners to establish new business, and enabling the account team to drive day-to-day interactions with prospects in order to build both short-term and long-term business opportunities in Japan. You'll also work closely with the product/service teams to help them evolve the products/services and address technical issues, concerns, and requests from the Japanese market.

The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to drive customer engagement and land database deals, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and architects in Japan. You will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus in the Japanese market. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must. You shall be a proven excellent business leader to seed in every Database project and deal, and win Database market share in Japan.

Key job responsibilities

As a key member of the World Wide Specialist Organization (WWSO) team, you will serve as the best trust advisor to the AWS Business Development team, helping to drive AWS marketing, sales, and technical strategies for the Database industry in Japan. You shall be a proven excellent business leader, seeding your expertise in every Database project and deal, with the goal of winning substantial market share for AWS's Database offerings in the Japanese market. Your role will involve spearheading AWS's efforts to establish itself as the premier provider of Database solutions, leveraging your business acumen and leadership skills to secure high-profile Database projects and forge strong relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.

  • Develop and scale programs to drive database workload sales across all customer segments in Japan, collaborating with sales teams and AWS partners.

  • Conduct business reviews for senior management, highlighting progress, challenges, and strategies for acquiring new enterprise customers.

  • Lead virtual, cross-functional teams to drive database adoption on AWS for existing and new customers.

  • Identify high-potential prospects and partners, discussing AWS services' applications for their business needs.

  • Manage a high volume of engagements and keep pace with the rapidly evolving cloud database market.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business development, strategic partnerships, or program/product management experience in MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server and/or NoSQL products

  • 5-10 years selling technology, preferably cloud, hosted and managed services in technology industry

  • Strong analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to turn detailed data analysis into useful strategic insights in order to drive customer adoption and make appropriate recommendations to the business

  • Experience with, and detailed knowledge of Japan market and insights related to cloud computing and IT

  • Strong verbal and written communications in Japanese and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in go-to-market, sales, pipeline management and business development.

  • Experience working within the technology industry is highly desired.

  • Knowledge of relevant AWS services is a plus (Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon ElastiCache, Amazon Database Migration Service, DocumentDB, Neptune, Timestream, Keyspaces and QLDB)
