The Role

We are actively searching for a Director, HR Business Partner (HRBP) based in Tokyo, to play a pivotal role in driving the HR strategies that will fuel Kyndryl Japan's business growth. This role isn't just about executing HR plans—it’s about shaping the people strategy that will empower the organization to thrive in a rapidly evolving market. You will support the VP of Japan HR and work closely with senior leaders to establish HR initiatives that make a tangible impact on business outcomes while cultivating a workplace recognized as an Employer of Choice.

As a Director, HRBP, you’ll provide consultation to senior leadership to align the people agenda with the company’s goals. You’ll craft and implement full life-cycle HR programs, ranging from talent management to compensation strategies and performance management, ensuring they meet the needs of today’s workforce. Partnering with the Recruiting team, you will expedite the hiring process to bring in top talent, from fresh graduates to experienced professionals.

In this role, you'll also champion leadership development, creating a pipeline of strong leaders who can drive the business forward while enhancing employee retention. Your expertise will be critical in solving complex, sensitive issues, always ensuring alignment with local legislation and business needs.

Analyzing People Insights will be key in transforming data into actionable strategies, enabling you to lead organizational design efforts and engagement initiatives that promote a culture of growth and transformation. Collaboration will be at the heart of your success, as you work with global Centers of Excellence (CoEs) to implement HR transformation initiatives tailored to the Japanese market.

Additionally, fostering an inclusive and diverse environment will be a top priority, ensuring every employee feels valued. You will also manage one of the company's subsidiaries, ensuring full compliance with Japanese legal requirements, including diversity mandates and regulations regarding persons with disabilities (PwD), employee relations (ER), and labor relations (LR).

Required Technical and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Bilingual Japanese/English is required

  • 7+ years' HR experience as an HRBP or HR Generalist

  • Excellent business and HR acumen

  • Organizational, critical and logical thinking, analytical skills and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

  • Positive engagement with multiple partners

  • Adaptability and agility in dealing with ambiguous situations and diverse culture in a rapidly changing market

  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team

  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Expert knowledge with Workday

  • Working in a global, cross-cultural, and matrixed environment highly preferred
