We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our dynamic team as a Data Center Security Manager (DSM). This role will serve as the primary point of contact for physical security across assigned sites or campuses in mainland Japan. As a Data Center Security Manager, you will drive operational security excellence by implementing and maintaining robust physical security procedures and policies. You will develop and deliver security operations plans to stakeholders, ensuring the highest standards of physical security. Additionally, you will provide leadership with updates on the status of physical security operations through detailed event reports and data-driven performance metrics. Your role will involve advising and recommending improvements in security systems design to enhance overall security posture. You will lead security awareness training for data center occupants to ensure compliance and awareness of security protocols. Furthermore, you will interface with and direct security vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, and daily security operations.

Key job responsibilities

The selected individual will be responsible for assessing and enhancing existing security programs, where security tasks, strategy, and priorities may be defined or occasionally ambiguous. They will participate in recurring site compliance audits, reviews, and testing of new security technologies. Contribute to developing strategic goals for the cluster that can impact the entire region, and adeptly adapt operational plans to evolving security scenarios. Member will make trade-off decisions and provide recommendations for enhance risk and security events. Collaborate with peers and internal stakeholders, develop solutions that help your team meet objectives. Assist in creating mitigation plans for security events or unique operational activities. Additionally, recruit and interview new team members while actively mentoring others to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

  • Lead daily operational security across a data center campus

  • Drive security awareness campaigns aimed at enhancing security vigilance and effectiveness

  • Execute workflow ticketing and extraction/development of performance metrics

  • Oversee physical security vendors and maintenance and repair vendors

  • Promote security strategy into daily tactics to reach management goals

  • Oversee security construction projects and influence decisions

  • Provide security awareness training to data center personnel

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications

A day in the life

  • Executes established compliance processes with AWS policies, standards, guidelines and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Verify and approve access requests and building access requests.

  • Assist in procurement: Work order execution, submission of requisition request, Purchase Order (PO) issuance, and invoice validation

  • On-boarding (provision of Amazon laptop as needed), training and off-boarding of Security Vendor resources

  • Participate in security system installation project meetings with DC Security Managers, Security Vendors, DC Operations and other key stakeholders.

  • Oversee and coordinate security vendor work for service calls and scheduled projects

  • Documentation and report writing on security metrics

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience

  • Administration using Microsoft office and web-based portals

  • Basic understanding of IT terminologies and principles

  • Business and above level English and Japanese in both verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of Data Center Operations

  • Experience in access control and video surveillance software applications (LENEL)

  • Experience with workflow ticketing and extraction of performance metrics

  • Financial Planning and spend management

  • Programming Skills (Javascript, Python and T-SQL)
