Fedcap Finance Specialist in TN, United States

Position Summary:

The Finance Specialist I is responsible for carrying out financial transactions and other routine operations related to compliance. Working in close collaboration with Finance Supervisor(s), the Finance Specialist assist in any or all facets of Financial Operations including but not limited to: Validations and Compliance, Internal Audits, Reconciliations, Billing, Procurement and Vendor Relations, Accounting and Fund Management Processes.

Fedcap Inc is excited to play an integral part in the transformation of Tennessee’s economic absentee employment services initiative in its role as the Services Delivery Coordinator for the Western service area spanning Chester, Crockett, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Haywood, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Shelby, and Tipton counties. Fedcap Inc employees will work in partnership with service partners focused on providing tailored support for unemployed people - including those with a disability (physical, mental, developmental, or acquired), substance abuse disorder, criminal history, health complaint, or vocational deficit - on their journey towards employment and into sustainable work. Our goals are to enhance local capacity while amplifying the good work and best practices already underway.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Validating Financial Claims for compliance with funding policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Audit and analyze financial activities and data and assist in resolving complex compliance issues.

  • Analyze and resolve all anomalies for internal customers including all communications.

  • Monitor Fund Accounts for usage trends and forecasting.

  • Provide excellent communications and customer support for back-office operations to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with Finance Manager(s) and other departmental heads on reporting and analysis.

  • Collect, review, log, code and submit all accounts payable invoices approved for payment by the Finance Manager.

  • Research and resolve all issues concerning outstanding accounts payable.

  • Ensure financial and accounting processes to comply with Company and Funder regulations, along with adherence provincial and federal laws.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for financial operations and transactions.

  • Negotiate rates and services with vendors to ensure optimal use of funds.

  • Maintain vendor relationships through timely invoice entry, review, and payment.

  • Prepare regular invoices for submission to program funder with Supervisors approval.

  • Aid in managing credit and collection activities.

  • Work with the Finance Manager(s) and other departmental heads on ad hoc reports, tools, and/or basic analysis to address financial trends and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or similarly related field.

  • Preferably 2-4 years of accounting and/or auditing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines and work additional hours when needed.

  • Ability to make suggestions to management based on analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role has no direct reports.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will be determined by your supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
