Currently, our Supply Chain division is currently hiring for a Section Manager (SM), Analytics and Solutions .

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, the Section Manager, Analytics & Solutions will provide leadership and guidance to a team of data science professionals to facilitate providing data driven insights and recommendations to supply chain management and other divisions within Bruce Power. Solutions will include but not be limited to: advanced analytical models, artificial intelligence solutions, business intelligence reports, and data management.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Support Senior leadership with providing data science related deliverables to contribute to driving opportunities related to generation of low-cost, safe and reliable electricity in an efficient way leveraging data and information to make informed strategic decisions.

  • Contributes to the development and growth of a Nuclear Safety Culture by communicating the Nuclear Safety message, setting the example for nuclear safety and demonstrating this commitment through words and actions.

  • Provides oversight for work group performance, milestones, metrics, production, deliverable, budget, training and development.

  • Contributes to the development of the division, department and section business plan, budget and forecast based on understanding customer needs, corporate planning predictions, changing technologies and internal and external trends.

  • Performs staff mentoring, coaching and observation, pre-job and post-job briefs to ensure work is conducted safely, efficiently and technically accurate.

  • Performs staff Performance Planning and Reviews.

  • Conducts staff appraisals/feedback/discipline, as required.

  • Participates in selection of new/replacement staff on behalf of the Department.

  • Establishes a work environment that is safe, promotes quality work, continuous improvement and is respectful of each other.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Analytics and Solutions team by providing leadership in the planning, control, monitoring and the reporting of risk including; meeting customer demands, managing inventory, and mitigating equipment health issues through procurement and inventory activity.

  • Oversees the preparation, maintenance, and improvement of short, medium and long term demand forecasts for parts, materials, and services in support of all Bruce Power customers.

  • Determines the Company’s overall procurement and inventory risk profile, quantifying this risk where possible and recommending actions to mitigate those risks.

  • In real time assesses the importance and urgency of business risks associated with each situation and take actions which are timely and in the best interests of Bruce Power.

  • Develops and coordinates intelligence gathering processes and seeks to ensure the proper collection and management of Supply Chain data.

  • Accountable for the overall management of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence projects; including timeliness, quality, and client value.

  • Collaborate with senior management to devise strategic direction, and conduct analysis by qualitatively and/or quantitatively analyzing data and information.

  • Prepare written c-suite reports, uncovering insights and developing business recommendations based on data, statistical and analytical findings.

  • Present reports to key internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating the key findings and recommendations.

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently to ensure successful completion of data science projects.

  • Create compelling presentations utilizing visualization best practices that provide actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Develops forecasting and planning models required for the development of procurement and inventory strategies. Keeps abreast of regulatory and market developments, and assesses supplier behavior.

  • Establishes, influences and works with a network of internal and external contacts to secure, protect and advance the interests of Bruce Power.

  • Works with other organizations (internal/external, utility/non-utility) to establish areas of partnership.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of a four (4) year University degree in a related area; including but not limited to statistics, finance, business administration, engineering, computing, or financial engineering.

  • Requires a minimum of 8 years and up to and including 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a regulated industry such as the electricity sector or the financial sector.

  • Knowledge of a regulated nuclear utility, including supply chain procurement, warehousing logistics and inventory management, contract management, data analytics, data mining and management, statistical modeling, business intelligence reporting, artificial intelligence, forecasting, nuclear maintenance and operations practices, the regulatory environment, ethical decision making, business practices, contract law, strategic management and cost management systems.

  • Ability to demonstrate and apply sound analytical and decision making skills in dealing with various contracts.

  • Excellent leadership, organization, planning, time management skills.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines with grace under pressure.

  • Excellent level of written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to communicate verbally to effectively direct and motivate team and others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to effectively communicate to senior management and external stakeholders.

  • Familiar with Collective Agreements

  • Having applied statistical and analytical skills and knowledge of business intelligence methodologies; being familiar with nuclear and supply chain specific experience with key EAM/ERP applications; experience using Python 3 (Spyder, Jupyter, etc.), SQL, MS Power BI, MS SQL Server Management Studio, and other related analytical applications and tools; and foundational knowledge and understanding related to data management, data governance, and the data management body of knowledge would be considered assets.
