The Modern Microsoft Cloud is built on three pillars: Compute, Networking, and Storage. The Azure OneDeploy team is in Azure Compute. We stage and orchestrate deployments and repairs on a global scale, across millions of virtual machines with safety, efficiency, and high availability for customers. Our features and infrastructure are used by third party Microsoft customers, first party Microsoft services (e.g. SQL Azure, HDInsight, Cosmos and IndexServe), and core infrastructure in all three cloud pillars. We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to join us in the Azure Compute OneDeploy team. Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a growing team of software engineers; create clarity, communicate teams' vision, strategy and progress to peers, partners and senior leaders; provide expert guidance, hands-on assistance, best practices and trainings, establishes team culture with emphasis on customer focus and engineering agility, removing barriers and enabling the team to be productive

• Effectively lead architectural reviews, planning and execution processes, creating robust engineering plans. Make timely decisions to meet security, reliability, quality and shipping goals

• Consistently identify, reward and manage growth of highly performing engineering talent and help all team members achieve the most in their careers

• Build a team with diverse viewpoints and capabilities needed to achieve business objectives

• Find opportunities for collaboration across teams even geographically distributed including program management, contribute on cross-team commitments, and achieve scale by enabling the work of others

• Translate business requirements into a strategy for systems solutions, derive data driven insights, building experiences that empower users to do more.

• Lead the continuous improvement of engineering and quality practices. Work across business groups to ensure the long-term integrity of a product area.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline

• Technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python.

• Proven experience in building, managing and leading a team of Software Engineers.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with designing and building highly available distribute systems at scale.

• Experience with agile methodologies
