What you will do

  • Manages environmental, health and safety policies; develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness, and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations pertaining to environmental safety of ethylene oxide and handles all contact with appropriate agencies.

  • Oversees licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling.

  • Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. May be the point of contact for emergency personnel.

  • Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.

  • Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, or other potentially toxic materials for analysis.

  • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards and government regulations

  • It may be required to work in hazardous areas and pass the initial and subsequent medical surveillance (total blood cell counts, pulmonary functional test) and occasional may require wearing respiratory protection (SCBA).

  • Additional duties as necessary.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Environmental, Health & Safety area.

  • Experience in a FDA regulated industry.

  • Bilingual: English & Spanish.

  • Knowledge of the ISO45000 and ISO14000 international standards programs.

  • Knowledge of the PASST Self-Management Program for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security at the Federal level.

  • Knowledge of the IMSS ELSSA Safe and Healthy Environments Program at the Federal level.

  • Knowledge of fire-fighting systems and environmental incident management.

  • Knowledge of self-contained breathing apparatus (for hazardous areas) is desirable.

  • Knowledge of OHSAS safety standards is desirable.
