Position Overview

The Sr. Associate Scientist, Process Development, is responsible for supporting the development and optimization of laboratory processes. This role ensures the integration of quality systems like LIMS and document management, manages laboratory inventory, and enhances processes through advanced knowledge of cell-based therapies and aseptic processing. The purpose of this role is to drive efficiency and accuracy in laboratory operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Job Description

Reports to: Principal Scientist, Process Development

Location : Thousand Oaks (northwest Los Angeles), CA

Travel: Travel required (up to 10%)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and refines laboratory procedures to optimize process efficiency.

  • Manages and ensures the integrity of laboratory inventories and procurement processes.

  • Analyzes and connects quality systems, such as LIMS and document revisions, to improve data management.

  • Collaborates on experimental design to support process development initiatives.

  • Executes procedures based on SOPs, ensuring compliance with GMP and EBR protocols.

  • Conducts data acquisition, retention, and analysis to inform continuous improvement strategies.

  • Applies statistical analyses to experimental results, enhancing process reliability.

  • Engages in technical writing to document procedures and findings.

  • Manages the implementation and improvement of laboratory processes, monitoring quality systems, and ensuring adherence to company standards and regulations.

  • Act as a liaison with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.

Physical Demands:

  • Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels.

  • Work is generally performed in an office, manufacturing plant, or clinical environment. Car and airplane (see above) travel is an essential part of the job.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience in biotech/pharma; or

  • Associate degree in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience in biotech/pharma; or

  • High school diploma with 6+ years of relevant experience in biotech/pharma

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory practices and quality systems.

  • Working knowledge of cell-based therapy technologies and aseptic processing.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and LIMS.

  • Analytical skills for data acquisition and statistical analysis.

  • Technical writing and experimental design acumen.

  • Ability to assess and execute complex laboratory procedures independently

Salary and Benefits:

  • $84,000 to $104,000, depending on experience
