Google Network Engineer, Global Networking, Optical Engineering and Operations in Thornton, Colorado
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in optical network operations and performance analysis.
Experience conducting statistical analysis of optical hardware and network incidents to be used in the creation of continual service improvement plans.
Experience in building and maintaining software tools and automation frameworks that programmatically analyze and troubleshoot global-scale optical networks and supporting systems.
Ability to write SQL and/or query complex data structures to retrieve network and process diagnostic information.
Ability to analyze business processes and create data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to influence others with data-driven engineering and operations skills.

Our goal in Optical Engineering and Operations (OEO) is to deliver capabilities, processes and tools to scale the restoration of network capacity to deliver Google to the world. As a Network Engineer in the Google Global Networking (GGN) team, you will work with other network engineers and teams in Google to ensure the smooth operation of our optical networking platforms and peering interconnects on the Google production network.

Author network operations workflows and processes.
Support new optical networking technology additions to Google's network.
Ensure and advocate for supportability and full integration with existing systems and processes.
Work with network design, deployment, and engineering teams to operationalize stable, scalable platforms. Create prototypes for problem solutions and extend software tools where required to minimize downtime of Google's optical and peering networks.
Advocate for and support the front-line support team by actively seeking out and automating recurring transactional tasks. Work with other development teams to define requirements for additional systems and work to integrate and coordinate tools and processes developed both internally and externally to OEO.
