FINANCE/OFFICE ASSISTANT
Job Title:Payroll AssistantClassification:Non-exempt

Position Type:Part-time (28hrs/hourly)
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Finance Director and Town Manager, the Finance/Office Assistant processes weekly payroll and reporting.
ASSISTANT DUTIES:
1) Primary duties are to process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll.
2) Process payroll tax and direct deposit forms.
3) Set up new employee information in payroll software.
4) Maintain employee accruals and timesheets.
5) Update I9s, W4s, W2s, W9s for employees and vendors.
6) Assists with all required weekly, quarterly, and yearly payroll reporting.
7) Processes weekly billing and warrants.
8) Answers telephone and customer inquiries.
9) Performs filing duties.
10) Acts as backup to the front counter.
11) Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
1) Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
2) Experience using Microsoft Office programs and TRIO Software preferred.
3) Ability to communicate and work courteously with the public, vendors, and coworkers.
4) Capable of working in a positive team environment.
5) Possess time management skills and be able to multi-task.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Education/Training:
High School diploma or equivalent;
Supplemental courses in accounting, business education, office procedures, and computers preferred.
Previous payroll processing and municipal experience preferred.
