Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Assist the Plant Manager to support and challenge the management line and all employees of the assigned area in reducing their risk exposure and defining the actions to mitigate risk and achieve zero accidents and occupational illnesses throughout the organization.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Provide H&S expertise to all staff for the management of H&S

  • Support and challenge the line in defining and prioritizing the actions to implement long term site H&S strategy.

  • Use and provide specialized H&S knowledge and experience to help site leadership and all employees drive behavioral changes in the business to reduce incidents and become an industry world reference inH&S.

  • Set action plan on annual basis for proactive actions regarding potential MSHA citations

  • Provide relevant H&;S trainings to all staff based on Holcim’s H&S standards

  • Coach and assist supervisors and managers on incident investigations.

  • Works with the Plant to provide support on best working conditions and safe working environment (for night shift personnel, office and job place ergonomics, etc…)

  • Keep formal communication frequently on safety highlights and communicate to all staff.

  • Works with Safety Manager and site leadership teams to ensure regulatory and group compliance regarding exposure and monitoring of vibrations, noise, dust and other chemical agents.

  • Assist site leadership in their communications with MSHA and OHSA. Be proactive and responsive with entire plant.

  • Advise, assist and support local operations regarding compliance with federal, state and local regulatory compliance. Assists the sites during MSHA inspections and investigations, providing local managementwith the expertise to interpret regulatory compliance issues and the capacity to challenge inspectors’ findings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Associate's degree or 7 years OSHA/MSHA equivalent safety experience.

Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

Field of Study Preferred: Safety, Environmental, Occupational Health

Required Work Experience: Experience in Cement, Oil & Gas or Mining

Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint. SAP experience helpful.

Travel Requirements: 5% for training and developmental

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

  • Ability to maintain composure and a high level of professionalism when under pressure
