Entergy Project Controls Manager in The Woodlands, Texas

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Ensures proper and comprehensive project controls are implemented on capital projects. Ensures deliverables in the area of cost, schedule, scope and risk are developed in line with the requirements of the Stage Gate Process. Supports the project control managers with decisions associated with controls on projects and review project status reports and performance metrics as projects progress. Provides direct oversight, coaching and support to project controls managers and project controls specialists throughout the project lifecycle.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages an assigned team of project controls managers, specialists and analysts. Provides oversight, support and coaching to the project controls staff.

  • Ensures project controls are implemented on assigned capital projects in line with Management Standards and Stage Gate Process requirements.

  • Collaborates closely with project management to assess project team performance and address any gaps, identify project risks and develop mitigation plans and identify project issues and formulate plans to address the issues.

  • Reviews and validates project status reports and performance metrics for all assigned projects.

  • Provides information and reports related to project progress, estimates at completion and compliance with project controls standards to executives and to project steering committees. Provides input to progress reports filed with regulatory bodies.

  • Identifies gaps in Entergy's project control environment and takes proactive steps to implement improvements and strengthen controls.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 7 years project controls experience for projects in the utility sector.

  • Desired: experience in both Owner and Contractor roles.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Expert knowledge of the fundamentals of scheduling, cost control, and risk management.

  • Superior knowledge of scheduling software packages and related analytics.

  • Superior skills with spreadsheet based analytics.

  • Knowledge of project and construction management fundamentals.

  • Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Complex Problem Solving -- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Desired: PMP Certification.
