The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin September 1st, 2025. Contributes to the University’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

About the Department/School/Area:

The Sociology Program in the Department of SASW has 13 full-time faculty members as well as instructors, lecturers, and affiliated faculty. As one of the largest and fastest-growing undergraduate programs on campus, we offer bachelor's degrees in sociology and criminology in addition to a master's degree in sociology. We also have an innovative accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree program that allows selected students to earn graduate credit while an undergraduate. Faculty Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Sociology or a highly related field from an appropriately regionally or nationally accredited university. If clarification is needed, please email the search chair.

  • A record of consistent effort in i) teaching excellence and ii) improving teaching and/or mentorship in higher education. Experience as a doctoral student may fulfill this criterion.

  • Research experience and publication record in the areas of sociology of health and/or medical sociology.
