We are hiring immediately for a Nurse Practitioner to join the UTHealth McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston, TX 77030. In this role, you will work with the Center for Behavioral Emergency and Addiction Research (CBEAR). This is a hybrid role, Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm that will include telehealth and occasional travel to other project sites. The ideal candidate will have experience in with Substance Use Disorders and/or mental health as well as current licensure as APRN-NP and certification as PMHNP- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Position Summary:

Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a comprehensive practice setting under the direction of a collaborating physician. This NP may make house calls, follow patient load through hospital and/or clinic episodes, or monitor in-patients in specialized settings other than surgical or acute care.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Performs relevant patient assessments and physical examinations.

  • Coordinates, directs, and implements patient’s plan of care.

  • May make house calls, follow patient load through hospital and/or clinic episodes, or monitor in-patients in specialized settings other than surgical or acute care.

  • Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.

  • Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.

  • Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.

  • Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.

  • Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.

  • Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient’s recovery.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP, and specialty certification as required by department; PMHNP

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified or specialty certification as required by department

Minimum Education:

  • Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters in Nursing with completion of a post masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.

  • None

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
