UTHealth Houston Otorhinolaryngology department is hiring an Audiologist to join their team. This position is on-site and the clinic is located at 11914 Astoria Blvd, Street, Houston, 77089.

Preferences:1-3 years of Audiology experience

Schedule: Monday – Friday, days, rotating on call

Position Summary:

Provides basic audiologic services for prevention, identification, diagnosis, consultation and rehabilitation to patients with communication deficits resulting from hearing impairment and other associated disorders.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinates various phases of clinical audiologic and related research activities.

  2. Performs audiologic evaluation of pediatric and adult patients suspected of hearing deficits. Identifies type and degree of hearing loss.

  3. Follows up on patients and counsels family to verify use of appropriate self care techniques or the recommended referral service.

  4. Assists in the development and administering of quality assurance programs.

  5. Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, and professional standards.

  6. Maintains patient records.

  7. Provides auditory evaluations and education.

  8. Assists in the instruction and demonstration of testing procedures and services to clinic personnel, medical students, and residents.

  9. Maybe required to dispense hearing aids to patients.

  10. Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation.

  11. Maintains supplies and equipment.

  12. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Audiology Board Certification from the American Academy of Audiology or a license in Audiology from the State of Texas or must obtained within two months of initial employment.

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree in audiology and completion of a Clinical Fellowship/Externship Year (CFY), clinical audiology experience both in adults and pediatric patients.

Audiology Doctorate (Au.D.) is preferred.

Minimum Experience:

No experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
