McGovern Medical SchoolatUTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), faculty position inThe Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases(IMM).
The IMM is part of the Center for Translational Cancer Research, work includes mathematical prediction of the optimal chemotherapy dosage based on a patient’s tumor morphology, personalized aptamer targeting agents, morphology-based targeting agents, and bioinformatics.
The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in public health through research, teaching, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Conducting independent and collaborative research, actively pursuing grants and sponsored contracts, participating in scholarly research, and publishing results
Supervising post-docs and graduate student research assistants in research and development activities
Participating, developing, and expanding the scope of collaborative and funded-program portfolio
Participating in the education mission by enhancing the curriculum for students, residents, and fellows.
Participating in Quality Assurance (QA) efforts, the department chairs annual faculty review (AFR), and other departmental meetings and/or retreats
Coordinating with the Office of Development for philanthropic support.
Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings at as appropriate
Qualifications:
Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) with 4 years of experience in related research environment with verifiable publications
History of extramural research funding
Outstanding research, interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with excellent administrative and organizational abilities.
