Galveston County Health District is seeking an ImmTrac/PICS OutreachSpecialist!

This position is responsible for administering and promoting the Immunization - ImmTrac2 Program in Galveston County.

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Some college hours preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and delivering presentations, training, and/or teaching.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
  • CPR/Heartsaver Certification (Must successfully complete CPR certification within 6 months of employment).
  • Ability for spur-of-the-moment transportation without relying on organization vehicles.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Motor Vehicle check as applicable.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to people of all ages and educational backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Cash handling experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn applicable state and federal rules and regulations related to ImmTrac2, Immunization schedules, and program information.
  • Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours when necessary.
  • Must comply with GCHD Immunizations policy.
  • Must comply with ICS training requirements and report/respond as directed during a public health emergency/disaster to perform non-traditional tasks to meet the community needs as determined by the Health District.
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening.

An equivalent combination of education and work experience which appropriately demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-described essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.

Traditional Duties:

  • Maintain records of all contacts, education provided, and results of outreach activities as required for quarterly reports.
  • Provide moderately complex identification, outreach, education, data entry, and follow-up for individuals and the families of children who have consented to participate in the statewide immunization registry ImmTrac2 but who do not have complete immunization records or histories in the registry.
  • Presents ImmTrac2 information to providers, schools, daycare facilities, and other community groups including outreach to 18 year-olds in High School and college to increase the consent rate and understanding of the importance of the ImmTrac2 registry for people of all ages.
  • Identify and locate individuals with incomplete immunization histories and assist in updating records.
  • Locate additional immunization records for individuals and ensure that all immunization information is entered into ImmTrac2.
  • Conducts Quality Improvement Assessments and follow-ups with providers.
  • Downloads and reviews scheduled reports from ImmTrac2 (monthly); 18-year-old target client report, IPO client listing report, Provider Activity Report (PAR), and the Consent Acceptance Rate Evaluation Report (CARE).
  • Resolve questionable matches in ImmTrac2.
  • Identify and r cruit new users (hospitals, pediatricians, and health care providers) and conduct provider outreach for those who are not using the registry to verify the point of contact and assist with the renewal of the site agreement.
  • Promote data registry use, quality, and completeness through completion of required QI activities.
  • Perform data entry of paper reporting forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor including assistance with clerical duties.
