Marathon Petroleum Company’s (MPC) Galveston Bay Refinery currently has a vacancy for an Area Team Engineer in the Engineering Department.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced, team-oriented engineer to join our Area Engineering team to provide technical guidance and mentoring to the new engineers as well as project management services and day to day technical support for a refinery operations team. Projects may include new capital projects and modifications needed to properly maintain and optimize existing operating units. The position will be based out of Marathon Petroleum’s Galveston Bay Refinery located in Texas City, TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Project Management and Area Team Support

  • Serve as a technical mentor in the Area Engineering group

  • Providing mechanical support and troubleshooting skills for Area Teams

  • Providing mechanical assistance to the Area Teams during process unit Turnarounds

  • Reviewing drawings, documents, and equipment datasheets to meet refinery needs and company specifications.

  • Participating in Pre-PHA PSI Audits, area HAZOP reviews, incident investigations and other PSM/PSI related activities.

  • Applying project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout.

  • Specifying engineered items and equipment for refinery projects.

  • Managing multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.

  • Coordinating work with outside engineering contractors as needed.

  • Developing scope, supporting cost estimates and schedule creation, and obtaining management approval for projects.

  • Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives

  • Conferring with management, project stakeholders, and local/corporate SME’s throughout a project life cycle.

  • Actively involved with the budgeting process, insuring quality budget deliverables and included projects meet refinery goals.

  • Collaborate with local Construction Group during project development and implementation of projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or above) in Mechanical or Civil Engineering is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

  • Minimum 2 years experience in the refining, petrochemical, or oil & gas industry is preferred.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
