Job Description

This is a nine-month appointment. The anticipated start date is August 2025. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications

Texas A&M University-Texarkana and the education division is seeking qualified non-tenure track faculty members to teach, mentor, and advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This position requires the candidate to provide engaging instruction through face to face and online environments. Teaching responsibilities include 15 semester credit hours (5 courses per semester) with the potential to have a summer appointment.

The primary focus of the instruction will require expertise in educational pedagogy, classroom management, differentiation, and special education. However, this position may be required to teach an occasional course across the education division. Candidates should be committed to collegiality and continuous improvement based upon qualitative and quantitative data. Additionally, faculty are asked to engage in service to the department, university, and discipline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engaging Instruction: Deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses in educational pedagogy, classroom management, differentiation, and special education, both face-to-face and online.

  • Curriculum Development: Develop and maintain effective course syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with program objectives and university standards.

  • Student Support: Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, fostering their academic growth and success.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Employ a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student learning and provide timely feedback.

  • Online Teaching: Utilize technology effectively to create engaging and interactive online learning experiences.

  • Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues on curriculum development, program initiatives, and other collaborative projects.

  • Professionalism: Adhere to university policies and procedures, maintaining a professional and ethical demeanor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a terminal degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Education, or Special Education or have completed doctoral level coursework and are in dissertation phase of degree

  • Credentialed to teach education, and special education classes in an educator preparation program

  • Licensed to practice as an educator in the State of Texas

  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in a school district (public or private)

  • Willing to be an integral part of the Education Division at Texas A&M University-Texarkana

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Texas Teaching Certification Exams

  • Credentialled to teach Education (ED or EDUC) and Special Education (SPED) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels

  • Experience using Canvas or similar LMS

  • Interest in and commitment to experiential learning
