Responsibilities Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is currently recruiting for a full-time Board certified / eligible Non-Invasive Cardiologist. Duties include specialty cardiology clinic and inpatient rotation. Participation may include all ECHO modalities including performance and interpretation of TEE. The incumbent may also be involved in EKG and Event monitor interpretation as well as all types of Stress testing. This position is located primarily in Temple, Texas and involves interacting with residents and cardiology fellows. The incumbent maybe assigned to other CTVHCS locations if considered necessary. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm or as agreed upon with the possibility of extended hours and weekends. NOTE: Candidates must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours. The candidate must be willing to be assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Note: This is a bargaining unit position Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Board certification / eligibility in Cardiovascular disease Non-invasive cardiologist Has worked with residents and fellows Board certification in echocardiography Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. Physical Requirements: Moderate Lifting (15-44 lbs); Moderate Carrying (15-44 lbs); Pulling hand over hand (up to 1 hour); Pushing (up to 1 hour); Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (up to 1 hour); Standing (up to 1 hour); Repeated bending (up to 1 hour); Both legs required; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Both eyes required; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted); and Sitting (up to 4 hours).
