POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises tree care crews. Ensures proper administration of training, pay practices, employee hiring, promotion, and termination. Assigns work, enforces safety practices and investigates injury and damage claims and company disciplinary policy. Assumes responsibility for maintenance and accuracy of records. Receives and interprets orders through a variety of contacts. Directs emergency crew operations confers with customers, property owners, the general public, other contractors and representatives of utilities and governmental agencies. Meets with Tree care Manager, Client Managers, HR Dept and Safety Representatives plus others. Ensure Priority determination and time management while planning routes. Has a clear understanding of job objectives; short- and long-term goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and train Tree Care crews per industry standards

  • Responsible for weekly safety tailgate training

  • Ensures industry standards plus some utility specifications are followed.

  • Coordinate with client managers, ILM branch managers and sometimes property managers.

  • Pre-inspect job sites and recommended management plans, matching labor and equipment resources to work and cost estimates.

  • Maintain a daily accurate job detail of ongoing jobs, maps, crew locations, and estimated completion dates.

  • Inspect crews, start/stop times and identification of crew’s locations.

  • Audit time reports/tickets for accuracy.

  • Assist with client managers with notifications and customer complaints.

  • Preview work assignments and conduct post-work critiques for each crew.

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies to sufficiently support the compliment of assigned crews.

  • Perform monthly inspection and assessment of crews, trucks, and equipment.

  • Coordinate activities with other ops managers working with client managers to ensure all requirements are achieved.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School degree required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree desirable.

  • 3+ years of experience as a supervisor/manager with proven ability to train, nurture and develop employees and determine leadership skills in others.

  • Must be a Certified Arborist, International Society of Arboriculture

  • Must have field experience as a tree trimmer.

  • Experience in Aspire Landscape Operating System preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel).

  • Must have the ability to evaluate crew’s performances and knowledge, safety and climbing equipment and job starts and completion

  • Must be able to communicate with various levels of field and management personnel and write reports.

  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and the requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods.

  • Must be able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.

  • Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.

  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.

  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.

  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.

  • Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.

  • Must be able to communicate and handle confrontations professionally.

  • Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work).

  • Must know current equipment and willing to learn the new as they develop

  • Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
