Summary

As a prep cook, you will play a crucial role in assisting the kitchen team in preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring the smooth flow of food preparation. You will work closely with chefs and other kitchen staff to uphold high-quality standards in food preparation and presentation.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, proteins, and sauces according to recipes and kitchen guidelines.

  • Assist in the preparation of menu items, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and marinating.

  • Organize and stock kitchen stations with necessary ingredients and equipment.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including washing and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and workstations.

  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to prevent cross-contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations.

  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies.

  • Adhere to kitchen standards and procedures for quality control and portion management.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a restaurant or food service establishment preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.

  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Lift and carry heavy objects, such as bags of ingredients or kitchen equipment.

  • Bend, stoop, and reach to access ingredients and equipment in low and high places.

  • Culinary or food safety certification is a plus.

Education

High School, GED or Equivalent.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
