Job Description

A large media and entertainment client is looking for a Linux System Administrator to join their team in Tempe, Arizona. This is a 5 month contract (possible extensions, but not guarantee) and will require working onsite 3 days per week (typically Tues, Thurs and Friday). There will also be the occasional after hours and weekend support with flexibility around that. You would not exceed a 40 hour work week. This team consists of 4 people and this person is coming in to help augment the workload. In this role you will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting Linux (RedHat, Rocky, Ubuntu) servers, networks, and applications. These applications and requirements are owned and come from the other business units (Sports, Broadcasting etc). It will be your job to know how to manage and support, report issues, understand the impact and communicate with the owners to set up maintenance and resolution. You will ensure the systems are secure, reliable, and efficient, and play a key role in troubleshooting and resolving issues to maintain optimal system performance. The environment consists of 200+ systems (VM and hardware), mostly AWS and some GCP. There is Linux RHEL (9x, 8x, 7x). Other responsibilities include:

 System Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain Linux RHEL (9x, 8x, 7x) operating systems and other flavor of Linux.

 Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, detect, diagnose, and resolve issues related to servers, hardware, applications, and software.

 Routine Administration: Perform user management, file system management, backup/restore operations, and administer disk, volume groups, LVM, NFS, CIFS and Automount.

 Networking: Manage IP networking, static routing, and protocols such as FTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, HTTP/S, DHCP, postfix and Syslog logging.

 Automation and Configuration Management: Use tools like Ansible, or equivalent for automation and configuration management.

 Monitoring and Documentation: Alert monitoring, document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

 Virtualization and Storage: Manage VMs on VMWare and ec2 instances on AWS.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience with System Administration, specifically Linux 9x, 8x, 7x

Experience with Linux flavors (RedHat, Rocky and Ubuntu).

Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems, scripting

Experience with VMware, Vmware vCenter Server

Should have experience working in enterprise/comparable environment

Experience with Ansible null
