Job Summary:
The Data Platform Business Ownership AVP is responsible for driving the data strategy, data sourcing, transformation initiatives, and governance of MUFG’s key data platforms owned by the Chief Data Office (CDO). The Data Platform Business Ownership AVP independently collaborates with senior stakeholders across the business units, IT, and external partners to define the data platform vision, roadmap, and priorities and to ensure the delivery of high-quality data solutions that enable data-driven decision making and innovation.
Responsibilities
Execute against the data platform vision and strategy, focused on sourcing additional superset data into the data platform
Enhance the data platforms by driving initiatives to bring in AWS tools/services that enable business self-service
Establish and maintain data platform standards, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure data quality, security, privacy, and compliance
Guide the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the data platform, including data ingestion, data processing, data storage, data modeling, data access, data visualization, and data services
Ensure the data platform is scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective and meets the current and future data needs of the organization
Drive the adoption and utilization of the data platform across the organization and foster a data-driven culture
Monitor and measure the performance, availability, and usage of the data platform and provide regular reports and feedback to senior management and stakeholders
Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and trends in the data domain and recommend solutions that enhance the data platform capabilities and value
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business units, IT, vendors, and partners to ensure alignment and collaboration on data platform initiatives
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in data management, data engineering, data science, or data analytics
Proven experience in delivering or supporting data platform solutions utilizing cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Tableau, Redshift, LakeFormation, and Collibra
Experience with SQL, Glue PySpark, or other programming languages and frameworks for data analysis and manipulation
Experience in AWS native tools such as Glue, Athena, DMS and Lake Formation for data ingestion, processing, transformation, and analysis
Experience in using data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Business Objects
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex data concepts and insights to technical and non-technical audiences
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into data solutions
Strong collaboration skills and ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills and ability to manage multiple data projects simultaneously
Strong business acumen and understanding of the organization's goals, objectives, and processes
The typical base pay range for this role is between $100K - $120K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
