POWDR Youth Wellness Coach Woodward West Summer 2021 in Tehachapi, California

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW Position: Youth Wellness Coach Location: Woodward West Job Status: Full Time - Seasonal JOB SUMMARY: As a Youth Wellness Coach, responsibilities include; the day-to-day care of behavioral and mental health and well-being that occur on camp facilities for campers and staff. This position will analyze the behavior and environment of the individual and provide the best care for their stay at Woodward week-long residential camp. Within this role there are varying degrees of processes in which must be understood and prioritized in order to successfully achieve the daily operations of this department. You should be knowledgeable in healthcare, wellness, and safety initiatives and programs. Must be willing to evolve and adapt with the needs of the business and adhere to and support all work protocols and guidelines regarding COVID-19. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Staffing Supervision (Passionate People) * Maintain a positive learning environment for clinical education of student mental health and other medical personal * Attend weekly meetings to discuss current issues and safety lists * Duties and Responsibilities * Maintain and be knowledgeable resource of current and proposed standards of practice and state guidelines of behavioral health coach * Ensuring adherence to HIPPA standards * Assist campers who are homesick, anxious, depressed, stressed, or who just needs specialized attention. * Understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and development * Ability to use appropriate behavior management techniques when needed * Ability to effectively manage children in a group setting * Develop and implement program plans in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting the individual physical, social, and emotional needs * Work with a team of camp nurses and athletic trainers to ensure the best health care is provided to all on camp property * Educate camp staff to acquire knowledge for behavior management techniques, emergency evacuation procedures, etc * Responsible for maintaining records on campers, staff, guests utilizing our internal platforms * Contribute to overall organization and administration of the wellness area in conjunction with other assigned staff * Responsible for scheduling and follow-up evaluation and check-in appointments * Liaison between parents, coaches, program staff, and athletes regarding behavioral care, prevention, management, treatment. * Maintains Woodward safety logs, operational sheets and incident logs * Attend camper orientation to provide education on safety and wellness * Help facilitate safety and wellness across the entire camp * Support storytelling, social and content ideas for medical, health and wellness * Facilities and Equipment (Innovative Environments) * Ensure the Athletic Training Room is covered on a rotational basis from 8:30am to 10pm Sunday - Saturday. * Provide on-call overnight coverage on a rotational basis every night via phone and radio coverage. * Take daily inventory on supplies and operational needs. * Communicate any and all maintenance needed to uphold a safe and sanitized athletic training room. * Other duties as assigned. Website: woodwardwest.com Facebook: Woodward Camp Facebook Instagram: @woodwardcamp Youtube: Camp Show PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS: * Experience: * Currently obtaining an Associates or Bachelor's in wellness, behavioral or mental health program. * Have 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens. * Health and Safety Certifications * Darkness to Light Certification * SafeSport Certification * California Mandated Reporter Certification * NFHS Student Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Certification preferred * Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, comfortable presenting and deploying new technologies.  * Creative and can conceptualize ideas, think "outside the box," and implement ideas.   * Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments to work as part of a team  * Has the ability to implement ideas. BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS: * Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50lbs. * Ability to work within confined spaces. * Must be able to maintain safety and equipment logs. * Must be comfortable working in an outdoor all-season environment. * Camp Attendance Requirements (June 6th - August 21st) * Minimum commitment of 4 weeks (11 weeks preferred) * Lodging & Food * 3 daily meals are provided as part of employment. * Staff housing provided length of employment. * Must successfully-pass a background screening to ensure suitability of contact with minor children and the public, in accordance with Federal, state and local jurisdictions. * Work related references upon request.
