Fairleigh Dickinson University Assistant to the Director of the Student Union and Campus Engagement in Teaneck, New Jersey

Provides advanced and diversified administrative support to the Office of Student Life and the Director of Campus Engagement. Responsibilities include oversight of daily office operations; communicating office policies, procedures, and practices to students, parents, and University personnel; assisting with the operation of the vendor program to generate revenue; coordination and execution of select special projects; and supervision of student workers. This position is responsible for scheduling meetings and events for the campus community using University applications. This also includes approving room reservations, communicating with facilities for room setup, managing work orders, and assisting with associates’ payroll. The position assists the FDU Wayfinders and the Chief Student Experience Officers. This job prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, equipment, and support services and tracks income on the College’s self-service portal. The incumbent manages the check request process, maintains records, and files, and facilitates the Student Life Operations budget and SGA Checking account operation. 1.High School degree required.; Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field of study.2.A minimum of 2 years administrative work experience required, preferably in an academic environment, including office and budget management, accounting, and program coordination. 3.Experience required related in the use of diverse technologies for data processing, data management and analysis, and reporting; applications to tasks using word processing, databases, spreadsheets, graphics, online services, (e.g., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, Ellucian Colleague, etc.); ability to learn quickly and to train staff in various information processing modalities, as required. 4.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills. Well organized with an attention to detail, independent, and collaborative in carrying out responsibilities. Pleasant and competent telephone manner. 5.Ability to be assertive when enforcing policy, while establishing good rapport with students and the University community. 6.Ability to manage sensitive issues with decorum and confidentiality.7.Demonstrated ability to address multiple, unrelated, frequently detailed tasks simultaneously in an environment where priorities are frequently changing. 8.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
