Title: Senior Associate Scientist (New Target Investigation)

Location: Tarrytown, NY

Schedule: M-F Full Time

Compensation: $40-$55 hourly

Type: Contract

Responsibilities:

This department focuses on the discovery of novel biology based targets and innovative therapeutics based on human genetic findings.

• Assisting in biochemical and histological approaches to phenotype novel mouse models that test new technologies and new roles of specific genes in development and disease.

• Support genetics-based target discovery and validation as well as development of new technological platforms for rapid and robust exploration of gene function throughout the organism.

• Work closely with other scientists is the group to learn and complete these approaches as part of a small team.

• Coordinate experiments with other group scientists to process cohorts of experimental animals by several phenotypic readouts

• Independently complete perfusion, dissection, and histological processing of adult mouse tissues with high quality and reproducibility

• Image and quantify histological and immunostained sections

• Cellular studies include flow-based characterization of dissociated cells from tissues.

• Biochemical approaches may include mRNA and protein analysis in tissues, and isolation of cell fraction based on density gradient centrifugation.

  Requirements:

• BS/MS and 3+ year experience working with mammalian tissues

• Have strong understanding of either genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or histopathology.

• Experience with software for specialized lab equipment (i.e. imaging, flow, plate readers) and statistical analysis (Prism, R, excel) is helpful

• You want to spend a large percentage of your time in the laboratory conducting experiments and studies.

• You enjoy experimental approaches and routine tasks (tissue sectioning, pipetting) that may require fine motor skills (dissection)
