Position Description
The Measurement Technician position will be based out of Kinder Morgan’s Southern Natural Gas (SNG) Tarrant, AL location or another nearby KM facility based on the candidate’s location. This is a Monday through Friday position with on-call responsibilities nights and weekends. Primary Purpose
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and accuracy of all natural gas and/or liquid measurement and control facilities located in the Southern Natural Gas Alabama System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and accuracy of all natural gas and/or liquid measurement and control facilities
Install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and remove advanced measurement, control and regulation equipment, SCADA and quality equipment
Detect measurement error and correct volumes as needed and provide supporting documentation
Monitor gas volumes through the measurement system, insure all corrections are applied and proper qualities are applied
Interpret and apply electrical and electronic schematics pertaining to EFM and measurement electronics
Assess all facets of assigned facilities to insure accurate measurement and maintaining the company lost and unaccounted for gas with a high degree of ownership within the established corporate goals
Perform audits of custody transfer and control data when necessary
Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed
Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties
Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements
Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence
Regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
Experience / Specific Knowledge
Basic computer skills of MS Office, operating systems, company software
Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
Working knowledge of the National Electric Codes
Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours, which will require carrying a communication device
Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high pressure systems
Knowledge with electronic test instruments
Knowledge of gas chromatography
Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used in gas and liquid product measurement and control
Knowledge of AGA, API, and GPA measurement standards Certifications, licenses, registrations:
Possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements
May be required to possess a commercial driver’s license, drive a company commercial vehicle and comply with all commercial vehicle regulations
May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties

Working Conditions:
May work in low-lit areas
Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dark)
Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces, climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways, etc.
Depending upon the location and workload, travel outside of normal area will be required
Available for shift work when applicable
Able to stand, walk on uneven/unfinished surfaces (gravel, dirt), possibly for long periods of time
Able to work in PPE including: safety toe shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, flame retardant clothing, hearing protection
Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
Able to push/pull/exert force of up to 50 pounds
