Aerotek Manual/ CNC Machinist in Tampa, Florida

Job Description

As a machinist, your responsibilities will include reviewing electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job, calculating where to cut or bore into work-pieces (steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon or any other material being shaped), determining the speed of workpiece feed into the machine and the amount of material to be removed, selecting appropriate tools and materials, planning the sequence of cutting and finishing operations, and marking the workpiece to indicate where cuts should be made. You will also be responsible for positioning the workpiece on the machine tool, setting the controls, and making the cuts. It will be your job to monitor the feed rate and speed of the machine, ensuring that the workpiece is properly lubricated and cooled. You will need to detect any problems by listening for specific sounds, such as a dull cutting tool or excessive vibration, and replace dull cutting tools when necessary. You will also need to adjust cutting speeds to compensate for harmonic vibrations, which can decrease the accuracy of cuts. This role will also require you to operate Lathes- up to 50-60 inches of swing and length up to 40 feet, and Mills- spindle 4-5-6 diameter.
