Your Role

As a DevOps Engineer for our new Application Integration platform in AWS, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports scalable and efficient application integration. Using DevOps best practices and cloud-native solutions, you will ensure that our Middleware platform operates seamlessly, aligning with our goals for reliability, scalability, and automation. Your work will enable Kuehne+Nagel application teams to easily connect with the K+N Digital ecosystem through self-service solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS-based deployments. On a daily basis, you will collaborate closely with DevOps and Software Engineers to evolve our platform while ensuring that cloud-based infrastructure and services are utilized efficiently across teams, avoiding silos or isolated knowledge. As a champion of Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps, you will integrate these practices seamlessly with our broader infrastructure, driving automation and efficiency at every level.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain a cloud-native data integration platform in AWS (based on Cloudera DataHub, Apache Nifi) to facilitate seamless application integration.

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and ensure the consistent delivery of middleware services.

  • Use tools CloudFormation, AWS CDK and Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of AWS infrastructure for the Middleware platform.

  • Implement robust observability practices using tools like CloudWatch, fluentd Grafana, OpenSearch to monitor platform health, performance, and integrations.

  • Enforce security best practices, including IAM policies, data encryption, and vulnerability management, to meet compliance requirements.

  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, integration failures, and platform issues to maintain high availability.

  • You will take part in on-call 3rd level support to ensure the platform remains highly available, reliable, and responsive to user needs.

  • Analyze and optimize AWS resources to ensure cost-efficient operations without compromising performance.

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in a similar role (DevOps engineer, SRE, Platform engineer) with hands-on experience in at least one major cloud provider (preferably AWS).

  • Technical Skills: Strong background in Linux administration, CI/CD tools (optimally GitLab), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).

  • Middleware and Scripting: Experience with middleware tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Apache Nifi) and proficient scripting skills in Python and Bash for automating tasks.

  • Containerization and Orchestration: Experienced with container tools and orchestration platforms (EKS, Kubernetes).

  • Solution-Oriented: Ability to build reusable solutions that serve as blueprints for future challenges, with some experience in hybrid infrastructures (cloud and on-premise).

  • Collaboration and Communication: Enthusiastic about working in international teams with good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
