    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers in the areas of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT); Lighting, Electrical, Signalization, Signs (LESS), and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS); Americans with Disability Act accessibility; pavement markings; guardrail; Consultant Construction Engineering and Inspection (CCEI); and contract disputes. Keep abreast of the latest technology and innovation in the areas of expertise. Make recommendations on failing material test reports or nonconforming practices in areas of expertise.

    Develop, review and update policies, procedures and specifications related to the area of expertise to ensure consistency and compliance with Florida Statutes, Department policies, federal laws, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and other applicable Department requirements.

    Serve on Task Teams and other working groups that Involve FHWA, Industry, Central Office and Districts in assigned areas of expertise. Assist in planning, participate in, and give presentations at conferences and workshops.

    Conduct regular process reviews of selected Districts in areas of expertise to ensure compliance with contract documents. Review guide lists for compliance with latest specifications and policies. Produce reports relating to these reviews.

    Identify educational needs, help develop training aids as necessary, and participate as an instructor when needed.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to provide assistance to Districts and Central Office In areas of expertise. Ability to write specifications, procedures, reports, and documents in assigned areas of expertise. Ability to perform Process Reviews on construction projects in assigned areas of expertise. Ability to serve on committees, task teams, and other working groups as requested. Skilled in technical writing. Ability to review requested contract modifications and specification changes in areas of expertise. Ability to develop tracking databases. Skilled in use of computer software - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting engineering data. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to coordinate with Industry and other Government Agencies.

    REQUIRED LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Registered Professional Engineer's Licensure in accordance with Chapter 471, F.S.
