JOB SUMMARY:

This is a Research Economist – SES position in the Department of Revenue’s Executive Support Program’s Office of Tax Research in Tallahassee. This position produces and maintains econometric and macro-simulation tax models in support of various functions inside and outside the department. These functions include the Revenue Estimating Conference’s various conferences, particularly the General Revenue Estimating Conference, as well fiscal impact analyses for proposed and passed legislation. This position requires expertise in specific tax areas and understanding of the state’s tax structure. Applicant must be able to perform fiscal analyses of tax issues and forecasting for the Revenue Estimating Conference using various analytical techniques and data sources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance or Accounting*

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and statistical software, e.g., SAS, STATA, SPSS and/or EVIEWS

    SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • *Work experience with data analysis, statistical analysis, analysis of tax proposals, or the legislative process may substitute for the required degree.

    PREFERENCES:

  • Experience working with the Revenue Estimating Conference and the Legislature.

  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of Florida’s tax structure.

    SALARY: $64,980.00 - $80,040.00
