Job Description

Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc, a leading-edge technology company in Tallahassee, Florida, is looking for a 1st shift Quality Technician . The hours for this position are Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm with Friday overtime being very likely and the occasional Saturday .

The Quality Technician role will be responsible for specified activities in the support of product quality. The individual acts as the shift contact for quality topics and supports / drives the operations team in addressing Quality issues. This will involve auditing, data gathering and support for Quality and Process Engineers. Heavy focus on knowledge of internal standards, as well as direct support of manufacturing operations to achieve internal goals related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Our products are high speed, oil-free HVAC compressors using magnetic bearings, variable speed direct drive and digital control technologies.The Production Technician will be responsible for mass-production of varying models of oil-free compressors by performing and participating in component parts preparation and line assembly operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Will support inspections for incoming and in process components and maintain the Quality Inspection System records.

  • Utilizes all gages, tools and measuring equipment required for Inspection support including providing measurements for blueprinting various components.

  • Evaluation of non-conforming product/materials that are not within specifications. Assist in coordinating non- conforming product to the proper areas awaiting disposition.

  • Observe all safety rules and maintains proper housekeeping using 5S techniques.

  • Monitors manufacturing processes and assesses product quality to determine adequacy, capability, and ability to comply with customer and company specifications.

  • Protects customers from escaped quality issues by management of containment, sorting, corrective action and blocking of suspected parts.

  • Facilitates and participates in process audits.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • 1-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of handheld inspection tools, micrometers, calipers and height gages.

  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings including basic GD&T.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.

  • Knowledge with data analytics (Capability, Gage R&R, etc.).

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g.: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English, write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before others.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such basic math using metric, GD & T and basic statistical techniques. Has the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

  • Can solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
