Job Description

We are seeking experienced plumbers to join our team for the construction of brand new apartments in Tallahassee. The role involves working on underground, pre-fab, checking levels, and installing plastic pipes. Candidates must have experience in new commercial construction and the ability to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform underground, water, sanitary, waste, and PVC installations.

  • Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems.

  • Work with 1/2 inch to 6-inch CPVC, PVC, copper, underground, and pre-fab based on crew assignments.

  • Install fixtures, hangers, and pipes.

  • Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipes to required angles using pipe cutters, hand or power tools, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines.

  • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess materials and equipment needs.

  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, hangers, passage holes, or fixtures using measuring instruments.

  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.

  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.

  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, sinks, and toilets.

  • Engage in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components.

  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings.

  • Review blueprints, building codes, or specifications to determine correct work procedure.

  • Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.

  • Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains.

  • Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial construction experience.

  • Experience with domestic water and sanitary systems.

  • Proficiency in installing fixtures, hangers, and pipes.

  • Ability to work with PVC, CPVC, copper, and cast iron.

  • Basic hand tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building codes.

  • Experience with pipe-threading and pipe-bending machines.

  • Knowledge of plumbing codes and specifications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
