The Chief Inspector General unit at the Executive Office of the Governor is looking to hire for an additional position, 31000615: Governmental Operations Consultant III-SES, with a working title of Investigator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Government Operations Consultant III - SES position (working title Investigator) is a professional/administrative position that works to identify, evaluate, and analyze problems in consultation with the Chief Inspector General, Deputy Chief Inspector General, and Chief of Investigations. The Investigator coordinates with the Deputy Chief Inspector General, Chief of Investigations, and Senior Management Analyst II (Intake Manager) to support the investigative and intake functions for the OCIG to include review of all complaints, calls, notifications, and correspondences; assesses each correspondence for completeness and determines proper disposition of each one; tracks recommendations for investigations conducted or managed by this office; and reviews complaint responses from agency inspectors general to ensure that issues are thoroughly reviewed. The Investigator also supports the office’s Accreditation Manager as requested. Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General with the testing of updates to the OCIG database (“CRM”). Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General with coordinating financial emergency notices and case updates; and coordinating the receipt of audits and corrective actions. Maintains confidentiality of Office of the Chief Inspector General information, files, and records in accordance with Florida Statutes, Executive Office of the Governor policies/procedures and Office of the Chief Inspector General policies and procedures.

  • Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General and Chief of Investigations with coordinating and conducting internal investigations of alleged violations of departmental policies, procedures, rules, or regulations. Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General and Chief of Investigations with conducting reviews requested by the Executive Office of the Governor or of agency inspectors general investigations. Performs liaison activities with local law enforcement agencies, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the OCIG as part of the investigative process. The Investigator is responsible for performing these duties in accordance with sections 14.32, 20.055, and 112.3187-112.31895, Florida Statutes (F.S.).

  • Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General and Chief of Investigations with reviewing and assessing all complaints to determine if complaints meet requirements pursuant to the Whistle-blower’s Act and ensures determinations submitted by agency inspectors general are complete, thorough, and accurate. Assists the Chief of Investigations and the Intake Manager with conducting complaint intake interviews, including accepting calls from the Whistle-blower’s Hotline and the OCIG’s main telephone line to obtain specific information about the nature of the caller's concerns. The Investigator utilizes the OCIG database to ensure all applicable documentation, including Memorandums of Interviews and Whistle-blower Complaint Determination Forms, is prepared for final review by the Chief of Investigations. Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General and Chief of Investigations with reviewing all Whistle-blower reports. Assists the Inspector Specialist and Chief of Investigations with coordinating the release of all Whistle-blower reports.

  • Assists the Deputy Chief Inspector General and Chief of Investigations with serving as a liaison with Agency Inspectors General related to significant complaints, inquiries, investigations, projects, and other Inspector General initiatives.

  • Assists with the training of new investigators and/or the Inspector Specialist under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Inspector General and the Chief of Investigations. The Investigator trains in day-to-day operations, proper OIG database entries to correlate with investigative activities, nuances of OIG investigations, and accompanies new investigators on interviews and all other investigative activities until they are sufficiently trained to conduct investigations without direct supervision. In addition, employee serves as a mentor and source of expertise/information to the Inspector Specialist. Assists the Intake Manager with maintaining the status log of all open cases and processes all requests for public records related to OCIG investigations. Reviews OCIG records to ensure that all confidentiality provisions are met prior to distribution.

  • Assists the Chief Inspector General, the Deputy Chief Inspector General, the Chief of Investigations, the Director of Auditing, Intake Manager, and the Special Counsel with special projects, assignments, and reports in accordance with the office's statutorily mandated responsibilities, policies and procedures, and mission and vision statements, to include drafting the annual report; Enterprise Projects; granting SharePoint access; managing submissions by Agency Inspector General related to personnel actions, notifications of significant issues, and subpoena requests; and coordinate public records request redaction reviews with Agency Inspectors General.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
