This role will be onsite at the designated Emergency Operations Center for the duration of the mission.

The Public Information Officer (PIO) is responsible for communicating with the public, media, and/or coordinating with other agencies, as necessary, with incident related information requirements. The PIO is responsible for developing and releasing information about the incident to the news media, incident personnel, and other appropriate agencies and organizations. Depending on the size or complexity of the incident, a lead PIO should be assigned for each incident and may have assistants, as necessary, including supporting PIOs representing other responding agencies or

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Establish relationships with local news outlets to disseminate lifesaving information. Communicate with reporters locally, nationally, and globally. Issue public statements for the Florida State Emergency Response Team. Monitor and ensure accuracy of social media and news outlets. Share critical information on social media and keep FloridaDisaster.org updated. Work with Command Staff to relay activation priorities and develop media materials. Manage the Joint Information Center and issue emergency alerts with warning staff.? Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written, particularly in areas of Recovery, Resilience, and Emergency Management. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information. Ability to multi-task. Ability to develop Disaster Recovery frameworks for clients as requested. Ability to make project management decisions based on analytical skills. Report and communicate to appropriate stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to conduct program evaluation and analysis based on industry standards. Ability to work across multiple functions and divisions on various projects. Proven record of accomplishment with project management best practices and knowledge. Ability to train others and lead people/projects and/or programs with minimal senior leadership oversight. Ability to create and maintain relationships with a variety of public and private sector clients. Demonstrated success in thinking critically, strategic planning, and problem-solving. Highly organized and detail oriented. Strong time management skills. Ability to remain flexible and adapt quickly to changes in roles, responsibilities, priorities, and projects. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Supervisory Responsibilities:

May have lead responsibilities within projects or small teams depending on function with senior level support.

Expected Hours of Work:

Schedule may vary, but 12-hour work days can be expected. Work on even ngs and weekends may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to work site. Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time. Physical Demands:

Mobility required on-site with clients. Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
