SPECIAL NOTES:

Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field isrequired.A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field OR an associate degree Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fieldandtwo (2) years of the required experience may be used as an alternative for the years of required four (4) years of experience.

Additionalrequirements:

  • Five (5) years or more of experience as a database administrator.

  • Experience in leading teams or managing database-related projects.

  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Knowledge of major of database management systems platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.

  • Expertise in database performance, indexing, and query optimization.

  • Expertise in database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

  • Understanding encryption, data masking, and other security protocols to ensure data protection.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in the English language.

    This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

    Background check and fingerprinting is required.

    This position requires the incumbent to be Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) approved for access to Criminal Justice Information (CJI). The incumbent will adhere to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Administrative Policies and Procedures 4-01, CJIS Management Directive and Local Security Policy.

    Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $115,000.00 per year.

    Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to successfully manage the day-to-day activities and responsibilities associated with the Bureau Database Administration.

  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring subordinates.

  • Ability to coordinate members of a workgroup to accomplish tasks and to conduct complex projects by setting goals and establishing performance measures for his team.

  • Skill in communicating with IT professionals inside and outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, and other external sources.

  • Skill in weighing the relative costs and benefits of a proposed and potential action plans.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions.

  • Expert Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with DataBase design and performance tuning.

  • Proficient Knowledge of Structure Query Language and working knowledge of one or more Data Base system (Oracle, DB2, MS-SQL…)

  • Knowledge and ability to establish and maintain Data Base security and integrity.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Leading and mentoring a small team of professional database administrators.

  • Ensuring the organization’s data storage, retrieval, and security needs.

  • Implementing measures to protect databases from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches.

  • Regularly monitoring database performance, ensuring data retrieval is efficient, and optimizing database operations.

  • Establishing backup processes and protocols to restore data in case of loss or corruption.

  • Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the stored data.

  • Addressing any database issues, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring databases run smoothly.
