We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer with a solid background with a track record in driving software platform initiatives and strategy for an organization. You will be involved with all phases of product development from design through bring-up, development, and release. We are aspiring to get agile where you will play a key role in designing, developing, optimizing, and deploying innovative features. You will help us define and develop tactical and strategic solutions to meet the immediate and long-term needs of our services that form a critical part of Azure infrastructure. You will communicate Microsoft Azure requirements to our external partners, as well as coordinate collaborative efforts with various internal Azure Engineering teams. You have excellent communication skills to drive programs with multiple internal/external partners teams. You have the strong desire and ability to understand customer needs and a willingness to develop holistic and data-driven approaches to product solutions that delight and exceed their expectations. You have a very solid understanding of hardware, firmware, HW/SW quality, the ability to apply these fundamentals to ‘cloud-readiness’, and most importantly - an unyielding passion for creating products that customers will fall in love with.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record translating the needs of a highly diverse set of AI & machine learning use cases into a differentiated set of supercomputing-class systems, solutions, and experiences, and apply them to Azure’s underlying infrastructure systems. You will provide overarching technical direction to the engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to internal developers or external partners to deliver serviceable, reliable, and scalable solutions.

  • Participate in all stages of product development from bring-up, validation, productization, and sustenance.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to find solutions that are leverageable across multiple architectures and generations.

  • Contribute to product vision and roadmap by bringing innovation to server manageability ecosystem.

  • Work effectively in an Agile environment following and practicing Scrum processes.

  • Drive a business-criticalobjective and key result to improve Azure’s Diagnostics standard signal rates. A measurement that ensures Hardware Diagnostics signals have unambiguous root causes, clear repair actions for data center operations teams to resolve hardware issues and get capacity back to production.

  • Define and develop vendor agnostic requirements for our innovative hardware solutions that powers Azure through active engagement with internal/external partners

  • Develop requirement specs for new features

  • Communicate with multiple internal/external partners teams located in different places in the world to drive programs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science/Computer Engineering with or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in technical program management of complex cross-group, cross-business, cross-disciplinary projects

  • Experience and skills in C/C++ and OS internals

  • Experience in collaborating with internal and external partners to understand their requirements and translating them into solutions

  • Experience in low-level SW on HW e.g., Firmware, UEFI, BMC, BSP… etc.

  • Proven ability to synthesize and communicate solutions to complex technical problems and resolve dependencies.

  • Exceptional organization and project management skills, e.g., experience with SW/FW agile project management methodology, TFS, DevOps, JIRA or similar

  • Enthusiastic, self-driven, and attention to details

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with experience in BMC development /platform enablement/ firmware development would be preferred.
