Description

This role will use a combination of proof-of-concept, design architecture, and product development activities to support next-generation innovative FCE hardware and solutions. We enjoy cross-functional, cross-business, and cross-cultural experiences to deliver on our goals. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse variety of tasks on a dynamic team where we do not limit ourselves by our job descriptions. In many ways, we operate as a small start-up with resources of a large corporation.

This role requires strong engineering fundamentals across a multitude of technologies and the ability to quickly learn and deep-dive into new technology.

Critical to the success of this position is building strong relationships with worldwide colleagues and key partners inside and outside the company.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for and experience in innovative technologies along with strong and proven technical leadership.

This position is based in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. 5 days a week in the office with flexibility to work from home as appropriate. The team is split between the USA and Taiwan.

Travel is expected for this position and fluctuates throughout project cycles. It will be a mix between international and domestic, averaging 1-2 trips per quarter.

Leadership

  • Routinely exercises independent judgment to achieve program and project objectives with minimal supervision.

  • Achieves results through others, including internal and external team members (regional teams, partners, ODMs, CMs).

  • Leads and represents a project team of other electrical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for complex products.

  • Uses strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

  • Engages with R&D technologists, product leadership, and executive management.

  • Leads with integrity.

Technical Skills

Architectural Scope: System level perspective with component level attention to detail.

  • Designs engineering solutions for electrical and electronic parts, subsystems, and algorithms based on established engineering principles and in accordance with standard development technology practices and guidelines.

  • Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of all design elements.

  • Manages tasks and issues with high technical and logistic complexity.

  • Exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.

  • Work cross-functionally with key partners and product leadership to deliver product definitions meeting feature, quality and user experience goals.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in:

  • Schematic Capture and Layout for Multi-layer circuit board design

  • High-speed signal integrity design, modeling, standards, and validation

  • Design for test, quality, and manufacturing

  • Industry standard design best-practices for reliability

Preferred Skills

  • Small-scale rapid design and prototyping for tools and proofs-of-concepts

  • Embedded control design

  • Scripting, firmware, and software design

  • Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) expertise

  • Manufacturing processes and controls

  • Expertise in industry standard protocols (USB, Display Port, PCIe, I2C, etc.)

  • Fluency in at least one of the major EE CAD tools (Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Altium, etc.)

  • Experience with video conferencing methods, hardware, and software

  • Accelerated Life Testing

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

  • Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in electrical design and tools, software packages, architecture of electronic hardware, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.

The base pay range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
