GE Vernova Commercial Legal Counsel (6 month terms) in Taipei, Taiwan

You will partner with the business and be involved in all aspects of the legal and compliance support required in growing and managing the risk associated with a complex multi-faceted business involved in power generation.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support and assistance (including drafting and negotiating) on a range of international and domestic sales and service agreements across the region, including Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, equipment supply contracts, multi-year service agreements, consortium agreements, guarantees, bonds and side letters.

  • Provide legal support and counsel on a range of issues related to pre and post contract execution projects (ITO and OTR) across the region, including regulatory issues, contract interpretation and guidance, consortium arrangements, bidding, compliance and claims.

  • Provide legal support, counsel and management of disputes and potential disputes across a range of jurisdictions and contracts, including experience in working with outside counsel. Provide compliance leadership and support, including trainings, investigations and advice at all levels of the organization.

  • Advising and training teams to understand legal and compliance requirements, including contract terms & conditions, bidding requirements and company policies and procedures. Keeping abreast of legal developments and advising the business of legal developments impacting the business and the conduct of business across the region.

  • Providing assistance in company initiatives such as simplification and legal productivity improvement.

  • Experience working with and navigating government ministries, local governments, government agencies, state owned enterprises, state utilities, government procurement regulations and local courts in Taiwan.

  • Other assignments as instructed by the General Counsel from time to time.

Required Qualifications

  • Legal degree from accredited law school and admission to the bar in Taiwan;

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal post qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or multinational corporation;

  • Experience in drafting and negotiating international sales and services agreements with international customers;

  • Experience in international trade, dispute resolution and corporate governance;

  • Superior advocacy skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in writing and orally, with an aptitude for practical negotiation. The capability to think clearly and quickly under pressure and the composure to satisfy multiple and often competing interests;

  • Fluent in English including ability to draft and negotiate legal and commercial documents in such languages;

  • Superior negotiation skills and ability to work in a complex international environment, substantial experience working in a multi-cultural environment with an open and tolerant mind with respect to diversity

  • Demonstrable computer literacy with specific ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and internet based applications etc.
