Position Overview: The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role in managing inventory accounting for our pole procurement operations, primarily supporting a team based in British Columbia, and reporting to the Accounting Manager in Tacoma. This role involves daily monitoring and reconciliation of pole inventory, with a strong focus on coordinating with on-the-ground teams in Canada through phone and email follow-up. The successful candidate will ensure accurate inventory processing in the LIMS system and handle vendor payments, particularly for procurement-related costs. Once training and team integration are complete, this will be a hybrid role (in-office with some remote work) based at our Tacoma office. There will be some limited travel in the US and Canada in this role (5% or less), primarily during the training phase. Primary Responsibilities:
- Validate, code and process vendor invoices within payment terms and department goals.
- Key invoices into payables system
- Compare accrued freight to invoiced freight and validate variances are within acceptable tolerances or take appropriate action to resolve variance.
- Validate and input production and inventory transactions into Fiber System.
- Complete financial close duties in accordance with company closing policies, including account reconciliations and account balance analysis.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis with minimal supervision.
- Act as department leader to identify and resolve issues as they arise regarding inventory.
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions pertaining to inventory from Fiber system to Financial System and reconciles.
- Respond to and contact Foresters and Yard clerks regarding Inventory movements and status in professional manner.
- Keep Accounting Manager apprised of potential concerns and statuses.
- Maintain and update process documentation.
- Appropriately respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders
- Participates and contributes to company safety program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Three years of Accounting work experience w/ Associate's degree in Accounting -or- Five years of accounting work experience w/ HS diploma or GED
- LIMS experience highly preferred
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (including Excel); SAP experience a plus
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to handle a variety of phone calls with various manufacturing plant teams
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
