Eaton Corporation Screw Machine Setup & Operator in Syracuse, New York

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Screw Machine Setup & Operator. The core hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The hourly rate for this position is 23.99 per hour.

What you’ll do:

  • Setup for a variety of machining operations on single or multi-spindle, semi-automatic chucking machines.

  • Proper operation sequence, select cams, tools, feeds and speeds required to grind tools to meet varying conditions and mount and clamp tools in machine.

  • Position cams and adjust for proper timing and clearance; tolerances close on diameters and between shoulders with some co-related dimensions, squareness and concentricity.

  • Check first piece to detect defective material or faulty operations.

  • Perform simple assembly and packing duties as directed to form boxes, pick and kit parts.

  • Receive, store and issue individual items or tool setup packages of perishable tools, gauges, measuring equipment, hand and power tools, jigs and fixtures.

  • Visually inspect all gauges, tools and fixtures before storage; make minor repairs as necessary.

  • Check setting of indicating gauges, check component parts of jigs and fixtures and assemble when required before issuing.

Qualifications:

Basic Required Skills:

  • Minimum two (2) years machine setup & operation experience

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to use shop arithmetic. Ability to read ordinary drawings or job layouts.

  • Ability to use micrometers, protractors, depth, and fixed gauges. Knowledge of tools, machining methods, and cutting quality of various metals.
