Sign On Bonus- $5,000-$10,000 depending on employment experience.

Full Time- 40 hours per week

Schedule-

M-F Day Shift, no weekends

Our Surgical Access Unit 1-1 provides preoperative, post anesthesia, and procedural outpatient care. Our nurses achieve competency in astute assessment and management of patients who have undergone surgery or procedures with anesthesia and moderate sedation. The consistent goal is to provide seamless care with the surgical services team. Specialized training includes admission assessment, pre op preparation, IV and phlebotomy skills and phase 2 recovery.

What you will do:

  • Monitor and deliver care for patients in the pre and post anesthesia phase of care, pre and post outpatient procedures. Nursing staff supports patient care from admission, post anesthesia recovery until discharge or transfer to inpatient unit.

  • Collaborative team approach, coordinate and direct care with surgical services team including surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical affiliates, and RNs.

  • Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice, American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).

  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure in the State of New York.

  • Minimum of 1-year nursing experience. *GN’s or RN’s with < 1-year experience should apply to the Graduate Nurse positions.

  • Maintains current BLS/CPR certification.

  • Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

  • National certification is promoted and supported for clinical ladder growth.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

Work Contact Group:

  • All services, medical staff, patients, visitors, and various regulatory and professional agencies.

Supervised By:

  • Team Leader, Clinical Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration.

Pay Range: $29.25-49.95

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
