Description:

We are looking for a global colleague educator to join our professional team in colleague education. This role supports education across the network and will act as liaison support to surgical services. Steady M-F Day shift.

Position Purpose: The Clinical Educator is responsible for designing, evaluating, revising, and implementing new and current nursing education program needs and new hire orientation. Our educational professionals act as both advisers, role models and mentors for the staff, assisting them in their journeys from novice to expert. They exhibit exceptional leadership qualities, have excellent communication abilities and have in-depth, comprehensive knowledge in their field of expertise. In addition, the education team assist with quality improvement, data collection and supply chain management.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for collaboration, communication & facilitation of clinical education and orientation in area of expertise.

  • Participate in monitoring quality metrics specific to the department & ensure complete & accurate documentation in the patient record.

  • Prepare,deliverand supervise clinical education.

  • Maintain expertise in the field of expertise and disease process.

  • Assist with ongoing competency and preceptor education.

  • Consult to recommend best practice.

  • Responsible for collaboration, communication & facilitation of optimal provision of care in addition to being involved in the provision of care as it relates to diabetic management for patients and families. 

  • Participates in monitoring quality metrics specific to diabetic management & ensure complete & accurate documentation in the patient record.

  • Ensures quality care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York State, National Standards of Practice, and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.

  • Ensure a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum.

  • Act as 1) mentor; 2) clinician; 3) educator; 4) consultant/collaborator; and 5) navigator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

  • Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor’s Degree accepted with demonstrated clinical experience.

  • Minimum of four years’ experience in nursing. OR/ PACU experience preferred.

  • Recent formal and informal clinical and teaching experience.

  • Participates in continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

  • Specialty credentialing & educational degree according to clinical practice specialty area preferred.

  • Maintains all licensures and certifications according to NYS regulations and specialty area requirements.

  • Participates in continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

  • Participates in educational conferences and updates and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to areas of responsibility. Acquires and maintains skills that are necessary to support the philosophy of patient centered care. General computer knowledge preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. BLS is required.

Pay Range: $35.70 - $56.40

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
