SUNY Upstate Medical University Compliance Auditor/Analyst in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary: Responsible for performing routine and investigatory audits pursuant to UH Hospital Compliance Plan.Under the direction of the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, duties will include: performance of routine and investigatory audits and evaluation and analysis in compliance with local, state, and federal laws; identification and collection of relevant data and preparation and maintenance of detailed audit reports; formulation of audit results with provision of potential liability assessment and recommendations for improvements; facilitation of implementation of corrective action plans; provision of feedback and education to affected staff/practitioners related to audit results; researches regulations as needed and serves as a resource for current coding, billing, and regulatory guidelines. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in healthcare/business administration or related field with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 4 years experience, or certified medical coder (CPC, CCS) or certification in healthcare compliance (CHC) experience with 10 or more years preferably with background in medical coding and billing & auditing, plus excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and organizations skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of coding, billing, medical terminology, medical record review/analysis, report development; ability to interpret and apply regulatory standards; and high proficiency in various computer applications (MS Word and Excel) strongly preferred. EMR EPIC experience preferred. Coding or compliance certification preferred.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
