As a Staff Network Security Engineer on our Network Engineering team, you will play a vital role in architecting and maintaining the robust security posture of our global production network infrastructure. Collaborating with other Security and Network Engineering teams, you’ll design, implement, and manage advanced security measures to protect our cloud and physical network environments. This role requires in-depth knowledge of network security principles and practical experience with a diverse range of security technologies. You’ll contribute significantly to identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our network.

  • Design & Implement:

  • Architect and deploy secure firewall configurations and DDoS protection mechanisms across our network

  • Design and manage internal and customer VPNs, adhering to best practices and security standards

  • Develop and implement network security policies and procedures to protect our sensitive data and assets

  • Monitor & Maintain

  • Proactively monitor network security to identify potential threats and address security incidents

  • Collaborate with Network Engineering and other teams to ensure timely incident response and remediation

  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of our security controls

  • Partner & Collaborate:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to evaluate risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies

  • Participate in on-call rotation and change management processes, ensuring smooth operations and minimizing disruptions

  • Assist Network Engineering teams with software upgrades and device maintenance, focusing on security implications

  • Document & Report

  • Prepare and maintain meticulous documentation of network security configurations and procedures

  • Provide clear and concise reporting on security incidents and risk assessments as needed

Note: This position requires the Australian Baseline Security Clearance. If offered employment, you must be willing to complete and successfully pass the adjudication process. Australian citizens currently residing in Australia for at least the past 3 years will be considered.

To be successful in this role you have

  • Experience

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with network security technologies such as Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), DDoS mitigation solutions, and VPN gateways

  • Solid understanding of and recent experience with network technologies including Load Balancing, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, and SNMP

  • Deep, hands-on experience with TCP/IP (packet headers, protocol inner workings, both IPv4 and IPv6)

  • Expertise with PAN-OS, JunOS, Fortinet and Cisco Nexus operating systems

  • Skills

  • Strong coordination and troubleshooting skills, particularly when handling complex network security incidents and escalations

  • Experience working with both physical and cloud-provider (Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP) data centers

  • Excellent knowledge of Linux as a user; Linux administration experience is a plus

  • Proficiency with network troubleshooting and monitoring tools such as tcpdump & Wireshark

  • Strong communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal

  • Nice to have

  • Knowledge of network automation languages and tools such as Ansible, Python, and Terraform

  • Familiarity with Netscout, Arbor, Corero, and Illumio

  • Qualities

  • Ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to partner effectively with peers and work empathetically with globally distributed customers
