Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon's Controls Deployment and Service (CDS) Systems Engineers are responsible for the scaling and maintenance of the Amazon Control Systems across our global data center infrastructure. As a Systems Engineer in the APAC CDS team, you will play a critical role in deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting the various components that make up the Control Systems architecture. This includes configuring device settings, diagnosing technical issues, deploying software changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful operation of Amazon Control Systems across our data centers. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of Amazon Control Systems support practices. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, leveraging your strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities to keep our critical infrastructure running smoothly.

If you're a self-motivated, adaptable engineer who thrives on tackling complex challenges, this is an excellent opportunity to make a direct impact on the reliability and scalability of Amazon's global data center operations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain device settings, collaborating with Controls Engineering and Software teams on sequence of operations. Ensure accurate system configuration management across sites.

  • Deploy software updates and manage controller provisioning. Deliver timely and successful software deployments with minimal service disruptions.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the Amazon Control System components, including mechanical, electrical, and software systems. Quickly diagnose and resolve incidents impacting system functionality and data center operations.

  • Work cross-functionally with teams like CDS, Operations, and Software Development to ensure successful control system deployment and operation. Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Investigate and resolve commissioning observations related to Amazon Control Systems, escalating issues as needed. Respond to commissioning observations within SLAs, prioritizing critical issues.

  • Document processes, maintain run-books, and contribute to continuous improvements of Amazon Control Systems support practices. Enhance knowledge sharing and drive process enhancements.

A day in the life

  • Be at the forefront of mission-critical infrastructure: As a Systems Engineer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the reliability and scalability of Amazon's global data center operations. Your work will have a direct impact on the availability and performance of the infrastructure that powers AWS.

  • Continuously learn and adapt: The control system platform and supporting technologies are constantly evolving. You'll have the opportunity to gain deep expertise in industrial control systems, software deployment, and cross-functional collaboration. Your ability to learn quickly and adapt to change will be essential.

  • Collaborate across teams and time zones: You'll work closely with a diverse array of teams, including Controls, Operations, and Software Engineering, as well as many other Amazon teams. Navigating these relationships and aligning on complex technical and operational issues will challenge you to improve your communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Make a visible impact: The APAC CDS team is at the forefront of Amazon's efforts to "own the stack" of data center controls systems. Your contributions to enhancing the control system platform and supporting processes will be directly visible and appreciated by the broader organization.

  • Be part of a dynamic, talented team: You'll be part of a highly skilled, collaborative CDS team that is dedicated to delivering world-class data center infrastructure. The pace and scale of Amazon's operations will push you to constantly grow and improve, surrounded by talented colleagues who share your passion for problem-solving.
