Power Electronics Design Engineer

What will you be doing at eInfochips?

  • You will design and develop a range of DC-DC (1000VDC) and AC-DC converters in kW ranges for Aerospace, Automotive and Defence applications.

  • You will work with customers to understand and agree on technical specifications: You will design and develop DC-DC, AC-DC and DC-AC power converters using simulations and then generate schematic capture, PCB layout and BOMs.

  • Perform Design DVT and validation

  • Create documentation for engineering to production handover- work on proposals, project costings, SOWs and documentation.

  • Support released designs and NPI activities.

  • Design, specify and test product to regulatory standards including EMC, Environmental, Shock, Vibration, Surges and Safety- Ensure new power supplies and systems meet top level design brief + requirements.

  • Working with key stakeholders in cross functional teams based in India (3000+ engineers) and UK such as SW, HW, CAD, Mechanical design and PCB layout.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on voltages up to 1000VDC and AC mains.

  • Understand safety standards for power converters.

  • Analysis and simulation of power electronics systems using tools such as: Matlab, PSpice principals.

  • Experience in high-reliability design, including redundancy and fault tolerance

  • Ability to implement fault sensing and protection, thermal management, and control systems.

  • Familiarity with SiC MOSFET key characteristics

  • Proven testing and debug skills - can solve development problems.

  • A good understanding of electronics components, board level electronics and experience in the processes, assembly techniques as well as power supplies and their construction.

  • Experience of environmental and regulatory approvals testing

  • Solid understanding of power electronic circuit topologies- buck, boost, flyback, PFCs etc

  • Design of AC/DC DC/DC PSUs

  • Experience digital PSU design

  • Experience producing schematics Altium / PADs.

  • Able to design PCBs and high current busbar design using best practices

  • Creating PCB layouts and selecting appropriate electronic components ensuring designed for manufacture and EMI standards

  • Can design gate drivers

  • Understand the link between software and firmware

  • Ideally experienced with some of the following:

  • Standards compliance for CA/CE Marking, Safety; UL; CB; EN62368, EN60601-1.

  • Functional safety, ASIL ratings and ISO26262 standard.

  • EN61000-4:-3,-5,-6,-11, MIL-461E/F and more.

  • Mechanical design and layout packages

  • Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and FPGA design

  • PMBus, I2C, SMBus, CAN, RS232, RS485

  • APQP, six sigma or similar (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc).
