Philips Mechanical Engineer in Suzhou, China

Work within our IGT (Image Guided Therapy) business unit as a Mechanical Test Engineer. This role is calling for a candidate that has a proven track record in the development of sophisticated mechatronic/mechanical systems. Also, experienced working with many different stakeholders on safety critical products for use within the healthcare domain.

You are responsible for

Within the scope of new product developments and product life cycle activities, your key responsibilities include:

  • Independently test mechanical sub-assemblies and document test results.

  • Write test specifications according Philips processes.

  • Test execution and documentation of test results.

  • Correct and timely creation of test documentation (e.g. Safety Test Specification, UTS/UTR).

  • Assist with mechanical build-up of test setups and tooling.

  • Work with external certified test laboratories

You are a part of

You are part of the newly formed IGT Cluster R&D organization in Philips China and located in Suzhou: a global extension of the Image Guided Therapy (IGT) Business Unit of Philips Healthcare. This Business Unit is responsible for marketing, development and manufacturing of X-Ray systems for cardiac or vascular medical diagnosis and intervention (e.g., balloon angioplasty and stent procedures). Customers are interventional specialists, in the cardiology and radiology domain operating in a wide variety of hospitals across the globe.

Your department consists out of approximately 25 highly qualified and motivated Mechanics, Electronics and Mechatronics developers and works closely together with the Mechatronics Development Cluster within R&D IGT Systems.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 2-3 years experience in R&D.

  • Preferable experience in the Healthcare domain, or another highly regulated environment (Medical, Automotive or Aerospace/Defense).

  • Experience with testing medical standards, e.g. IEC-60601

  • Understands and can challenge requirements and knows how to translate them into test specification.

  • Hands-on can do mentality.

  • Quality mindset.

  • Superior documentation skills (good documentation practices).

  • Experience working in a SAFe organizational model is preferred.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills while communicating in both English and Chinese.
